The next Air Jordan 9 colorway will be inspired by Micheal Jordan’s fictional alter ego, “Johnny Kilroy“. His alter ego was made famous by the “Popcorn Tape” commercial, which MJ disguised as Kilroy to play in the NBA. This AJ 9 is constructed in a blend of nubuck and tumble leather materials.
The upper is predominately draped in a combination of silver leather and black nubuck throughout the shoe. There are also Gym Red accents located from the inner lining, heel tab, and branding. A few notable features includes a number “4″ in place of the tradition “23″ from the back heel, and the words “KILROY KICKS BUTT” stitched behind the tongue.
The Air Jordan 9 “Johnny Kilroy” will hit JB retailers on October 6th, the very same day MJ first retired in 1993. The retail price is set at $160. Check out the detailed images and the infamous “Popcorn Tape” below.
